Data Cables and Data Suites Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Will I be able to use my cell phone to connect to the internet or to dial out using my PC?
A. In most cases (about 90% of them) our kits will indeed enable you to use your cell phone to connect high-speed (additional fees from your carrier will apply) or to dial out to connect to a landline (if you have access or subscribe to such service from an internet service provider). Also, about 90% of our kits will allow you to use your cell phone as a fax machine, if you have the needed application software (such as Winfax, etc.). Notice that if you purchase the data cable alone, you will need to call your carrier and/or research the internet for the data cable driver and/or application software, as it will not be included.

Q. Will I be able to transfer phone book entries, ringtones, images, videos, etc. from phone to PC and vice versa?
A. Many phones have a software block that may limit such transfers, so if you're buying our data kit for a particular purpose, it would be best to ask us first. We work very hard to enable our kits to offer as many features as possible, so if our kit will not enable you to accomplish a particular data transfer, no other kit in the market most probably will! (Notice that if you purchase the data cable alone, you will need to call your carrier and/or research the internet for the data cable driver and/or application software, as it will not be included.)

Q. What is that you guarantee 100%?
A. If you purchase the data cable only, we guarantee that it is the correct cable for your cell phone model; if you purchase one of our Data Suites, we guarantee that you will either be able to use our kit to connect to the internet (if you subscribe to such service), or that you will be able to transfer at least one data kind between phone and PC, or even both in many cases. There is an exception to this 100% guarantee: if your cell phone has a removable memory card slot, then we will guarantee that you will either be able to dial out, transfer data files, or get access to the memory card (in many cases, all three of these features will be present with our Data Suites).

Q. Will my phone be recharging while connected to the computer's USB port?
A. Some data cables will possess this feature, but not all. Please ask us if you must know before this purchase.

Q. Will I be able to crop and resize my pictures with your data kit?
A. Some of our kits will have this feature, but this is not guaranteed because cropping and resizing is a task for graphics programs, not data-transferring software.

Q. Will I be able to modify or shorten my ringtones with your data kit?
A. In most cases there will be no such feature included in our data suites, because this is a task left to music-editing (musician) tools, not data-transferring software.

Q. Will it be possible to change a ringtone format using the included software?
A. In most cases, no, for the same reason as above.

Q. Will all the software I need be included in your CD, or will I have to downloaded from given hyperlinks?
A. In many cases, the software will be on the cable's manufacturer CD (or our CD if we have legal distribution rights), or we will clearly indicate the hyperlinks necessary to download the needed software free of charge.

Q. I already have a data cable for my phone, but the company who sold it to me won't help me find the needed software. Can you just sell me the software?
A. We usually cannot. First of all, we usually do not sell software, because it is provided as a courtesy to customers who buy our data kits. Second, our company differentiates itself from other companies because of its engineering research and its top-notch tech support. If you just need the software, please buy our kit and sell the extra cable to a friend to recuperate some of the money you spent.

Q. Will you help me out if I have troubles using your data kit?
A. Yes, you will be provided with our Tech Support direct email address along with your products, but you must read our Terms and Conditions of Sale before contacting them. Technical Support is provided as a courtesy and it is not part of a data cable sale, so we do reserve the right to refuse this service to anyone and for any reason whatsoever. No Tech Support over the phone is currently provided except in very special circumstances.

Q. What operating systems (platforms) do your Data Suites currently support?
A. We currently have Data Kits for Windows XP (all 32 bit editions), Windows Vista (all 32 bit editions), and MAC OS X (Tiger, Leopard, 10.4 or higher) (32 bit editions only).

Q. Do your Data Suites currently support 64-bit operating systems (platforms)?
A. Our Data Suites do not, although manufacturers are now beginning to provide data cable device drivers for 64-bit platforms. Please email us to find out.

Q. I have a Linux (Unix) PC. Do you sell data kits for it?
A. Our Linux/Unix Data Suites are on hold because of low demand. If you're interested in a Linux/Unix Data Suite, please
email us.

Q. What's the difference between USB and serial/rs232 cables? Which one do I need?
A. Firstly, many computers nowadays no longer have serial ports on them, so you may not even be able to use a serial cable. Secondly, serial cables are for technical people that already own the needed application software (such as flashing/unlocking programs) and need to communicate to their cell phone as straight-forwardly as possible. Finally, serial cables do not come with software, so you're always better off purchasing a USB cable, although serial cables do not need device drivers since it's built-in into your computer BIOS.
